Originally designed as athletes’ housing for the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, the neighborhood is an oasis of green in a residential enclave of South Delhi. After the games, much of the housing was sold to private owners. Completely handcrafted using a spare material palette of stone, teak wood, glass – the apartment balances light, color and view in a simple and direct manner. The south-facing kitchen and living – dining room overlook a small organic garden. A book lined library acts as a threshold to the bedrooms in the north. Large tempered glass windows allow glimpses of the verdant landscape on all sides.
